We Are the World    How will I make the future a better place? By trying my hardest to develop technology to help others. I also will be better equipped because I have seen the world and lived in it from different points of view. (I certainly don't have the answers to all of the world's problems, but hopefully I will be able to help solve a few of them.) When I was an exchange student to Germany I realized that the world is but a tiny island upon which there are billions of people who are all dependant upon one another. Technology has shrunk our world so that a once difficult travel is reduced to a pleasure of flying or one can speak with a loved one on the other side of the planet with clarity such as if they were in the next room. The political situations of the world and the increasing strength of the United Nations has helped prove that we all depend on one another no matter who we are or where we live.    So where do I fit into the grand scheme of things? Well I have often asked myself that exact same question and have thought of many different things that I could do to help promote world peace and prosperity, such as I believe that I would make a great foreign diplomat. I have already been a miniature version of such when I was an exchange student to Germany. I would also like to do this because I enjoy and am good at settling disputes between to warring parties, this I attribute to the fact that I have a total of six siblings. I would love to do such a task where I could actively affect millions of people's lives.    However, I love the sciences and can never turn my head from trying to gain more scientific knowledge. I then thought of a way that I could affect the lives of many in a much more personal way, This is when I decided to attempt to develop devices to help the infirm. I saw that many could not care less about the wealth of nations in our world, but were rather more concerned about matters within their own lives. I hope to one day through becoming a Biomedical Engineer develop new ways for people to have a personal feeling of peace by making their lives more productive or of higher standards.

Tom Robinson and Lynch Mob

Tom Robinson and the Lynch Mob During the scene at the gaol Scout and the other children don’t fully understand the incredible danger posed by the presence of the lynch mob. The story is told from Scout’s point of view we aren’t directly told what could happen. Similarly we are not given access to the thoughts of the members of the lynch mob. The narrative perspective prevents us from knowing Tom Robinson’s thoughts or even what Atticus is thinking at this point in the novel.However, we gain some insight into Atticus’s assessment of the situation through his actions and dialogue during this scene. Task: Your task is to step into Tom or Atticus’s skin and retell this event from the point of view of this character. You should consider the depth of understanding that each of these character’s possess. They would be aware of the significance of this moment. They both have knowledge of the intentions of the mob and are fully aware of the ca pabilities of a group of angry men.There is a real danger to Tom, Atticus and the children. Review the main points of the scene up until when the mob disperses, then write what the experience was like from either Tom or Atticus’s point of view. Keep in mind that what people said or actions they took are set in stone, but we don’t know what was in Tom or Atticus’s mind. I heard Mr Finch’s footsteps as he walked over to the gaol, I couldn’t see him but I could hear him, he told me that all would be ok; I wasn’t so sure of this.I knew they were coming, everyone in town knows that I moved to the gaol, the only thing I didn’t know was who is in the group that was coming to torture and hang me. Then I heard cars pull up and men jump out and slam the doors, this was it, I then heard men walking closer and closer to the outside of the gaol and towards Mr Finch, my heart started beating really fast and I felt so bad that I couldn’t help him. Then an unknown man began to talk to him asking if I was here; my instantly heart dropped, I knew that this was it, they would kill him first then come in here and kill me before I even had a chance.Then another voice but not the kind you would hear in this sort of situation, its sounds like a young girl, â€Å"Scout perhaps? † I whispered to myself. She began to talk to someone, it sounded as if she was almost talking to herself until a man’s voice told her to leave. Not long after those words, I heard heavy footsteps that sounded as if they were walking away from the gaol, I whispered to myself, â€Å"Are they playing jokes with me? , can’t they just get it over and done with? † Then there was the sound of car doors opening and engines’ rumbling was I let off? Was I finally free?

The most obvious case in recent history has been the sacrifice of certain civil rights and liberties because the government has managed to dupe people into thinking that doing so will give the masses more security. Distributive Justice. The ethical concept of distributive justice is probably the most difficult to understand as well as the most controversial of all ethical principles. Distributive justice is also the ethical dimension most likely to be unfairly exploited since it is based upon a concept of inequality. Distributive justice can be essentially boiled down to the idea that inequality may be considered a more thorough means to a utilitarian justice. A fair example of this would be the fact that those who have the riskiest jobs are paid more than those who do not. The risk is greater so therefore inequality of recompense is perfectly acceptable.
